Monsoon Roof Prep: Stop Leaks Before the Summer Storms
Las Vegas gets little rain, but when the monsoon hits, it hits hard — an inch or more in under an hour. That intensity finds every weak point on a roof. A little prep before the season saves a lot of interior damage during it.
Check the usual failure points
Before the storms, the things most likely to leak are dried-out pipe boots, failed flashing at chimneys and walls, cracked or slipped tiles, and clogged or undersized drainage on flat areas. These are exactly where monsoon water gets in.
Clear and protect drainage
On flat and low-slope sections, ponding during a downpour is a leading cause of leaks. Make sure scuppers, drains, and gutters are clear so water sheds instead of pooling and backing up under roofing.
Get a pre-season inspection
A pre-monsoon inspection catches small problems while they're still cheap repairs. We'll check the penetrations, flashing, tile, and drainage and warranty any leak repairs for 5 years — so the next storm is a non-event.
